Rooting guide: Nexus 4 root with TWRP

  • Team Nexus

    Google Nexus 4

Hey there! Today I’ve just got my Nexus 4 rooted and it actually wasn’t as difficult as I thought. I’m going to share with you the process I followed in this post. I hope you find it helpful and if you have questions, you can leave a comment.

Please, check that your phone is already unlocked.

    Custom Recovery Installation:

    1. Go to the TWRP official website: https://twrp.me/Devices/
    2. Look for the one for Nexus 4 and download it in your computer; I downloaded the one for LG Nexus 4 (mako).
    3. Turn on the USB debugging mode on your phone.
    4. Connect your phone to your PC using a USB cable.
    5. Open the adb command tool and type the following command: adb reboot bootloader
    6. Turn on your phone.
    7. Input the command: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

    SuperSU Installation:

    1. Download SuperSU and save it in your SD card.
    2. Boot into recovery.
    3. Look for the supersu.zip.
    4. Click to install it and reboot your phone.

    And it’s all done!
